If you're planning on moving to Addington Township, Ontario, you owe it to yourself and your family to be properly informed about what exactly you're going to find there. Will there be hotel WiFi? Cell phone reception? How long will it take you to get there? How many people are you likely to meet? What sort of jobs do the people who live there have? Is this a regular town or a collection of villages? These are the sorts of questions we will attempt to answer for you.

Like many municipalities in Ontario, Addington Township is a collection of smaller communities united under a common government rather than a single settlement with a definable downtown. Telling a Toronto taxi service how to get there can be confusing because residents of Addington Township tend to refer to themselves and their businesses as being from one of the constituent villages rather than the Township. These villages are: Flinton, Addington, Glastonbury, Bishop Corners, Glenfield, Caverlys Landing, Northbrook, Cloyne, Vennachar Junction, Denbigh, Kaladar, Ferguson Corners, McCrae, Flinton Corners, Massanoga, Weslemkoon, Rose Hill, Vennachar, and Slate Falls.

So how do you get here? Finding the region is easier than getting to your wedding rental in Oakville. Take the 401 East out of Toronto and continue driving until you see signs for exit 579 to Napanee and Kalandar via Country Road 41. Take this exit and follow the country road straight into Addington Highlands. The trip takes a little over three hours.

Though the issue is on the agenda for many communities in the Addington Highlands, currently you'll have no luck with Blackberry roaming or trying to use any type of cell phone in most of the Addington Highlands. Broadband internet is also unavailable for most of the region, so residents have to rely on dial-up.

Residents of Addington Highlands find their economic support from the tourism industry - by running summer camps, hunting vacations, camping grounds, and other ventures such as renting cottages to seasonal visitors. Retail sales and forestry are other major sectors, especially in the summer when visitors turn up ready to buy goods and the lack of snow makes outdoor work easier.

There is a certain amount of health care service available though local traveling clinics or area nurses but if you're looking for a microdermabrasion specialist or hospital you'll have to travel into Napanee to visit the Lennox and Addison County Hospital. It has only 32 beds and limited specialty capabilities, so more severe cases will be referred to Kingston.
