In a town as small as the Addington Highlands, you'll want to take full advantage of every interview you land, as there aren't exactly an abundance of jobs to choose from. If your only work experience is a few months in a heatshrink sleeving factory, you might be a little worried about your ability to impress your potential new employer. If that's the case, let us help you prepare for the all important interview with these interview tips.

Dress for Success

First impressions are important, and believe it or not, your employer forms his or her first impression before you even open your mouth. That's why it's so important to dress appropriately for the interview. If you're rumpled and sweaty like you've just spent all day in a Toronto airport taxi, your employer will think you don't care. So men, get out your suit or your dress pants, shoes, and shirts. Wear a tie. Women, dig up your dress slacks or skirt, a nice blouse, and some understated jewelry.

Be Prepared

To stave off interview panic, prepare answers to common questions like "why are you a good fit for this company" and "tell me about your work experience." You don't have to memorize them, just a few talking points that will get you started. If you're a shy work-at-home beader, you might want to get a friend to come over and play act the interview with you beforehand so you can get used to talking to people. Bring a copy of your resume with you to the interview in case you forget any dates.

Be Polite and Engaging

It's important that you see the interviewer as more than just the gatekeeper standing between you and the job at Refinancing Mississauga that you really want. Interviewers are real people, so speak to them as such. Shake hands and introduce yourself. Look them in the eyes. Answer the question the interviewer has actually asked rather than using it as an opportunity to steer the conversation back toward your talking points. And always say thank you.

Have Questions

Interviewers are looking for people who are actually interested in doing the job they're applying for. One indication they have of your interest is whether you have any questions when they ask, so have at least one. It's not really appropriate to ask whether they'll be paying you as much as the cosmetic dentists in Toronto used to, and questions that are answered on the company website aren't exactly impressive. Use this opportunity to show off how much research you have done.
